Thinking Out Loud Thursday # 17- “If We Were Having Coffee…”

I am so bad at blogging right now!  At the start of the year, it felt like time was slowing to be more my pace, but now I blink and a month has passed since I posted.  Wow!  I’ve had my birthday, foster puppies, and my blog’s birthday, and I’m still woefully behind on all the posts I want to make.  I think I’ll do that “if we were having coffee together” thing (is it a tag? Someone please find help because I only pretend I know this blogger talk. 😜 ).  Well, partly that, but also part #thinkingoutloud Thursday.  It lined up that way, so I am totally taking the excuse to double up!

If we were having coffee… I would order hot cocoa, so you might be having coffee, but I…wouldn’t.  Not because I think coffee is bad; simply because I don’t like it + it makes me light-headed = why would I ever want coffee?  Answer: never.  Well, that’s not true, because I want to like coffee, and so I sometimes want it.  But I know it won’t end well. 😜 I might very well ask to smell yours, though, because I love the smell of coffee.

If we were having coffee… I would tell you that I’m sorry I haven’t been on WordPress more often, and that I apologize for any latent responses to comments, as well as my lack of blog posts.

If we were having coffee… I would say happy late blog birthday!!  Isn’t it weird that I’ve been blogging for a year?  Even though I was only somewhat regular for six months. 😕

If we were having coffee… I would tell you that I needed to redo my about page. It’s very long, and ramble-y. I would also ask you what you’re thoughts about it were, and if you thought it was too long.

If we were having coffee… I would tell you I am having trouble balancing my life and all my hobbies.  I kind of go through them systematically at random, if you know what I mean, but the blog always gets put last.  Haha, basically I’m saying one of my current challenges is organizing my time, and all the things I want/need to get done.

If we were having coffee… I would tell you I’m wrestling with my sleep.  Just when it was swinging back to normal hours, from 10-7 or something along those lines, it threw a fit and kept me laying awake until sometime after 1.  Which means I overslept the next morning, starting ye old loop again.  Which is part of the reason I am struggling with the above. 😆

If we were having coffee… I would tell you that 21 doesn’t feel any different. Except for a while there my body was refusing to sleep past a certain time in the morning (I think it was like 8:00), which was very unusual for me. I always have been able to sleep as long as I want. Somewhat unfortunately, I have that ability back now. 😐

If we were having coffee… I would tell you that I had an awesome birthday. (This might take a few paragraphs, but I’ll try to keep it brief.  The day before my birthday, we had a friend (one of few) over for a little girl time.  She found out that my birthday was the next day, and she very sweetly invited me and my sisters over to her house the next day (my birhtday) for root beer floats.  Because I’m 21 you know, so…beer. 😉

You know I’m not a fan of alcohol, so I was not about to go out drinking.  (Not saying I would if I liked alcohol better, but that’s not the point.  I would have had a martini of my aunt’s if she had been here, or rather, me there, but I’m sure I’ll have another chance.)  The root beer floats were delicious (I can’t spell that word anymore because of delish, lol!  Actually, I did get it right after I caught myself spelling it “delishious”.  Daddy would die. 😄 )

I was super mean and texted some of my California relatives this picture of me with a very vague caption that implied it was my first beer. I didn’t think they would buy it, but apparently some of them hadn’t heard me proclaiming my tastes in alcohol, and so they believed me.  I don’t prank people very often, so believing what I say would normally be the right course, so I felt awful!  I don’t think they minded as much as I did though.  It still kind of plagues my conscience.

I wasn’t celebrating that night, but it ended on a happy note, because Bunny called to wish me a happy birthday from all of them down there.  It was hilarious, and I pretended to be drunk when I was having trouble understanding her because of the connection.

I celebrated on Saturday, and although I meant to, I forgot to take a picture of my dinner.  I actually had the same thing I had last year, whole rotisserie chicken (when we buy it, we usually shred it and use it in recipes, so having it whole is special for us), croissants, and orange juice; two of my original food loves. 😋 I wanted to have the dried sweet plantain chips from TJ’s, but they were out. (If you haven’t tried them yet, they are ADDICTIVE, and they are just plantains and oil, no sweetener…they don’t need it! And I’m not the kind of girl who says that about everything.)

My dessert was a chocolate parfait bar.  We made brownies (crumbled), pudding, and fudge sauce, along with mashmallows (duh!) and pretzels or graham crackers, and everyone made their own to their taste.  The result?  ULTIMATE CHOCOLATE RICHNESS.  Yum.  I barely finished mine, even though before I tasted it, I thought I might want seconds! 😲

If we were having coffee… I would tell you I also got several fun presents!  It would take too long to tell you them all, but I got my first set of midi rings! I got this set, plus this one that is either toe or midi (un-pictured…sorry, it was on my toe this day. 😛 ).

If we were having coffee… I would tell you I am currently reading The Outlaws of Time, by N. D. Wilson.  It was another birthday present, they per-ordered it for me and I am loving it so far.

I’m currently in the middle of an action scene because I set it down when my sister thought she broke her toe on Sunday, and haven’t had a chance to read it since.  I mean, a real chance.  It’s been super hard to put down so far, and although I’m literally dying to know what happens and how the character gets out of the mess he’s in, I know it would be more painful to just read a couple pages.  So I wait…

If we were having coffee… I would tell you that I tried Zumba.  I was pretty bad at it.  To be fair, there was no instruction, but whenever everyone else in the class was going one way, I was going the other, and I felt kind of disconnected to my body in this weird way. It was like my brain couldn’t get my body to do what it wanted, which was frustrating.  It was fun, but I’m not sure I would go back.  I think I prefer more organic dancing, aka, when I can move how I want. 😂  It’s probably more dorky, but I’m not sure it would be worse than me trying to choreograph myself with everyone else.  But we’ll see.  Maybe someday I’ll feel like trying it again. 🙂

If we were having coffee… I would tell you that those foster puppies were part terrier, or rather terror (no offense to any terrier owners out there; you have my deepest respect).  They were the most bizarre in the potty training department (the chihuahuas put them to shame), they persistently dug underneath the blankets, and chewed the area and tore pee-pee pads like nobody’s business.  Oh, and got poop literally e.v.e.r.y.w.h.e.r.e.  I would wake up to find poop several feet outside of the x-pen.  And I won’t mention some of the other places we found it.  It was crazy!

If we were having coffee… I would tell you about the weather we are having and how weird it is.  Yesterday was 62.  Two days before that it was in the 80s.  This back and forth has been going on since early April, maybe March?  I don’t remember for sure

I took this screenshot, intending to post about it at the time, but I never got around to it.  The forecasts haven’t changed a whole lot since, so I figure it’s still applicable. It’s quite disconcerting to flip-flop between spring and summer.  I get all jazzed for summer, and then it drops back down to the low 60s.

If we were having coffee… I would tell you I’m already excited for the 4th of July, and feel kinda guilty about it, and am trying not to let my excitement make the time rush by.  I’m blaming the weather for part of why I’m getting pumped, because it’s literally felt like July two or three times this last month weather-wise.

If we were having coffee… I would tell you that recently I’ve been enjoying the Personality Hacker Podcast.  Total credit goes to my sister for putting me onto it.  I hope I’m not stealing her thunder, as I’m pretty sure she’s going to share it on her blog.  Hers will be waaaaay more detailed than mine.  I’m just saying that Joel and Antonia are awesome, have made things a lot easier for me to understand, and I think their mission is a good one.  Plus, I love their focus on self-improvement.  Check them out if you like personality stuff and/or podcasts!

If we were having coffee… I would tell you that recently I’ve been dancing to Andy Grammer, and listening/singing to “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” by Elton John.  Maybe it’s cheesy, but although I like the movie version, I think I like the Elton John version better.

If we were having coffee… I would tell you that Seattle Humane is finally starting construction on their new facility!  What does this mean?  It means that we are going to have to get creative about parking, and walking the dogs.  At the same time, it is exciting, because it’s been in the works for so long, and after waiting for all the practical things like money and licenses, the part where you can see the progress is starting.

I think I’ll end on that very random note.  I hope you are more caught up on what’s going on in my life; that is, if you made it this far!  Sorry it’s so long.  There at the end it kind of ended up being also partly a “currently” post, which I’ve never done one, but I’ve seen others do it, like Amanda.

What would you tell me if we were having coffee?

Any random thoughts?
