I hope to keep things quick here so I can get to bed relativity on time, since I only got about four hours of sleep last night. Yeah, about that…this is literally the weirdest thing that has ever happened to me! Last night I could not get to sleep. I tried everything I could think of, and I wasn’t really stressed about it, either. Recently, I haven’t felt sleepy before falling asleep, so I was sure I would fall asleep any minute; except I just didn’t.
My brain finally started to wander around 3:30, and around that time, I started hearing things. It sounded super quiet, like it was far away, or turned way down. They weren’t scary noises, they sounded like noises my phone might make, only my phone wasn’t making any noises (I checked 😛 ). These imaginary noises were just enough to startle me out of drowsiness, in an attempt to figure out what it was. Once I confirmed that it was my imagination keeping me awake, I was able to ignore it (or shut it up, who knows!) and go to sleep.
Happy Friday everyone! So today is perhaps one of the strangest Friday’s in a long time for me, because since I’m sick, I didn’t go to my volunteer shift. Which also meant that I didn’t have to write this post last night, and I decided to do it today. I already know that afternoons and evenings are my writing prime-time, but I thought maybe I would play a morning person and try writing in the morning, but, um, that didn’t happen. 🙂
So hopefully when you read this, your weekend has officially started. 😀 The only question is if you want to waste some of your weekend time reading this. I won’t be offended if you don’t. 🙂 But enough of me rambling on and on, and let’s get to my favorites of the week!
Whoa, I didn’t realize it was already 9/11 until I was writing the post title. I think it is important to remember the sacrifices and lives that were lost fourteen years ago, but in true Abbie style, I will let music speak for me. 😉 “Have You Forgotten?” by Darryl Worley is one of my favorite songs about 9/11 that I’ve heard. (“Where Were You” by Alan Jackson is a close second, though!) I like that he mentions the other tragedies that happened that day besides the twin towers, which is what it seems like a lot of people think of when they think of 9/11. I feel like I can’t express my thanks enough to those who serve(ed) so that we can stay free. You are not forgotten!
Ok, so now that we are all tearing up from that music video (or is it just me…), are you ready for some Friday favorites? (Ironically, it involves another YouTube video…)
Happy, happy Friday everyone!!! I’m tired, but determined to write this so we’ll see how this goes. 🙂
1. My version of Amanda’s Almond Joy Overnight Oat Smoothie
Yes, I heavily adapted it because I wanted it badly, and didn’t have some of the stuff. I thought it was her only overnight oat smoothie recipe, but then, after making it, I found out that she had another recipe that was pretty much exactly what I was doing, but without the coconut and almond. Plus, I sub a half cup of Greek yogurt instead of half of the almond milk. It makes it thicker and less drinkable, and more like a smoothie bowl, which isn’t a bad thing in my mind. 😀
I swear I had more, but I came up with them too fast for me to write them all down! Which makes me a bit sad, but there are so many favorites, I can’t stay sad for long! And sorry! I don’t have any pictures. 😦 I think this is either the first or second ever in my blogging history that this has happened!
1. My grandparents visiting
They both make me laugh, but in very different ways. It’s very good therapy. 😀
2. My new (king-sized) blanket
Weird? Yes. Awesome? Also yes! I love it, especially at the beginning of the night because there is so much blanket, I can cover myself up and still have my arms out to do things. And yes I sleep with just a blanket – no sheets. But that’s…another post. 😉 Sorry, I was going to get a picture, but I forgot. And it’s getting late. (It’s a light gray.)
Hello and happy Friday everyone! As you may remember, I didn’t get a chance to post Friday favorites last week, so I’m doing more than five today. In no particular order:
1. Confirming plans for my aunt to come visit us in October!
You guys, I love all my aunts, but unfortunately I don’t get to see most of them very often. This particular aunt I have gotten to see fairly frequently, especially in the last 7 or so years, and it didn’t take long for her visits to become extra special to me and the rest of my family. There is just a connection between us that only blood can explain. We think the same way, feel the same way, struggle the same way, even though we are different people. (This applies to all family; the same thing happened when I re-met my cousins a couple years ago.) So I can’t wait! There is a small chance my uncle might be coming too ( ❤ ), but if he does, it means he has no work (he runs his own business), which is bad. So I honestly don’t know whether to hope he can come or not… I’m so glad God is deciding and not me! :S
Happy Friday everyone! It’s the last day before the weekend, and a pretty awesome day in it’s own right. I’m going to get to the favorites in a second, but I had something I wanted to share with you, and it made the most sense to me to have it at the beginning. 🙂
I found out that today is “National Mutt Day”, which was perfect, because I had something I really wanted to share with you, and this is the perfect excuse. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I have a special place in my heart for shelter dogs. Well, my friends at My Dog Likes posted a post last week about a fundraising project that their partner company, Dr. Harvey’s is just launching. They are reaching out to a shelter in the Bahamas to help them on their quest to save “Potcakes” (which is basically their name for mixed breed dogs if I understand correctly). Here’s the YouTube movie Dr. Harvey’s put together about it:
Several blogs I follow do these posts every week, and I was intrigued, but reticent because I wasn’t sure I would be able to come up with five things every week (sad, I know!). Then I realized that I don’t have to do it every week; I can do it whenever I feel like it! So here I am!
Let’s get started, shall we?
1. Thick headbands
