Happy Father’s Day!

Today has been set aside to celebrate the fathers of the world. Despite their reputation, most dads do more than come home from work and flip the TV on. They deserve the celebration; they do so many things, big and little for their kids! With so many kids growing up without any dad, it makes me all that much more grateful to have a father who is not only living with us, but is actually involved in our lives. (Short intro, ’cause all the stuff I said on Mother’s day is true about fathers, too. πŸ™‚ )

Daddy,

Thank you for giving up so much for us kids. You are so willing to come to our rescue and do stuff for us, whether it’s putting in a load of laundry for me, or running to the store over and over and over again, and so much more! πŸ˜›

You deserve the a medal for best math teacher ever! I remember one day in particular when I was in a puddle of tears over some math problem, and wondering how on earth you had the patience to deal with me. Thank you for being so patient; despite my grumblings about math, I know my impressions of it would be much worse had you not waited for me to be calm and taught me your tips. (And that patience is still there while you supervise me driving πŸ˜€ )

I love that while you are serious sometimes, you have a love of fun, too. (Thanks for bestowing that to me! πŸ˜› )

This song (and all those father-daughter country songs that we have) reminds me of you every time I listen to it. Especially the second half of the first verse. Don’t know why, but it does!

  1. Thank you, Abbie … and Hannah! I’m so glad that you are able to see beyond all my fumbling and failing as a father to the bits that I manage to do well for you. You ladies, and all of my children, are the best that a father could wish to have. I love you very much and I am very proud and amazed by each of you. God has surely done a great work in you. Keep it up! You’re doing GREAT!! πŸ˜ƒβ€
